Entry Level Resume Sample Information and Examples

Truly, creating a resume is not at all an easy task. You have to take care of several important factors so that the resume proves to be effective. You have to clearly state some facts in your resume so that it brings the desired output. The prime one is the objective of your career. State the professional aspiration of your life to draw the interest of the employers. It must reflect clarity, precision and confidence. Don't inflate your potentials and try to keep it simple. If the employer identifies any misrepresented fact then you can be in trouble.

Don't pour out your emotional outburst for the need of the job but rather apply practical sense and wisdom. The phrase "the rank of an auditor in the reputable audit firm" will sound much better than the term "the position to prove my worth" and appreciated as well. Don't make the employer feel like you are appearing for an essay competition and so make it short by putting only the relevant information- job experience and educational qualification. A single job title is enough. Putting your multi-talents into display through long titles will only confuse the reader and this can never provide good result.

It must be tidy, original, intelligible and without any error. The language must not be complex and definitely without any grammatical mistake. Try to put up a qualified representation (only if you have the proper experience). Ignore the reference of age, marital status, children, religion, race, photographs, Social Security number, and any irrelevant job details or activities. Bullets can be used to highlight the achievements. You must proofread in detail. Consult elders if possible. This will help you in identifying mistakes if any and you can correct them in time. Geriatric Medicine: A New Challenge

Doctors that specialize in geriatric medicine are called geriatricians, and they focus on health care of the elderly. It is a separate field because of the distinct health challenges and conditions that elders usually present. There are also other geriatric health professionals, including nurses.

The United States, Canada, Europe and Japan are facing an aging process, which brings new challenges to their societies and governments. Health professionals also face new challenges; as the population ages, less pediatricians and more geriatricians and geriatric health professionals are required. However, this is not an instant change; it is a process that takes time.

It is a reality that those countries are already facing a situation that has the potential to become an enormous problem if it is not solved soon; they are already facing shortages not only of geriatricians but also from geriatrics nurse practitioners and other health professionals, and it is getting worse.

In the U.S., there are 77 million baby boomers that are aging, and the fraction of population aged 85 and over is constantly growing. In addition, the average American citizen expects to live longer than their parents. It is clear that geriatricians and geriatric health professionals are very important for the future of American society.

As a result, the United States -as well as Europe and Canada- are actively trying to recruit those specialists from other countries, trying to convince them to migrate and prioritizing their applications over other candidates. However this is only a partial solution and it's certainly not solving things in the long term because those countries don't even produce enough geriatric health care professionals either.

How come geriatricians and geriatric health professionals are not enough? Well, there might be many answers. Perhaps, health professionals tend to choose career paths that respond to the needs of the situation they are living at, so we have a lot of pediatricians because, that was the trend 25 or 30 years ago when baby boomers were having their kids and not any close to elder age.

The fact that geriatricians earn less than other health professionals could also be an important factor; they earn about $150,000 in average. This is significantly less than the average for other health care professionals.

While many other health professionals are glamorized by the media -including pediatricians and neurosurgeons, geriatricians are almost completely absent from the media. It is clear that the media and a sector of the American public is still not aware of the complexity of the situation.

If this situation is not solved, the fact that people has the chance to live longer will be somehow wasted. Yes, people want to live longer, but they also want to be healthy, so health professionals that can actually help them accomplish that are necessary. There is a need to create public policies to promote the importance of geriatricians for society and make geriatric professions appealing to the young people and potential specialists.

Fresh Graduate Resume Tips

Are you a fresh graduate and wondering how to draft your first resume, which is impressive enough to fetch you a job interview? Well, writing resume for the first time is not as difficult or daunting as it sounds. Agreed!! The pressure of creating a professional resume especially for fresh college pass out is challenging, because of a higher rate of new graduates passing out each year and comparatively lesser job openings. In this scenario it becomes very important that your resume is drafted in a way that is not just eye-catching but also grabs the attention of the recruiters to an extent that they would want to meet you in person.

Some simple steps and quick tips can help you draft a perfect resume, just the way HR would like to see and is certain to leave them impressed. Prior to drafting your resume, on a sheet of paper jot down all your details, starting from your contact details, to work history, achievements, educational details, references, seminars or workshops you might have attended etc. Just make a note of all these things, so that while writing the resume you may not have to think too much and can quickly refer the paper. Read on to learn simple tips and tricks that should help you draft great curriculum vitae to strike the right note!!

Picking the Correct Resume Format: There are basically three types of resume format:

1- Chronological Resume

2- Functional Resume

3- Combination Resume

For fresh graduates it is highly recommended that they go with the functional resume type, instead of going for the traditional chronological resume format. The functional resume format, gives you an opportunity to highlight your skill sets, and relevant experience (internship, volunteer ship etc) first and than move on to showcase personal details. This makes sure that your most relevant work experience and education gets highlighted and is noticed by the recruiters.

Name & Contact Details: As basic it may sound, but it has been noticed that several candidates miss out on providing correct contact information. Your resume should always start with your name followed by your email address and phone number, for easy reference of the reader. Make sure to double check your phone number. An email address on your resume, especially when you are a new graduate gives a positive impression to the recruiter and they know at least you are computer savvy.

Career Objective: A well drafted career objective can present you as a sincere and professional candidate. Avoid writing general career objective. As a fresh graduate, we all tend to copy paste the same career objective and it becomes frustrating for the recruiter to see 100s of resume with same objective. So let your creative juices flowing and come up with a unique yet impressive career objective. Here is an example to help you get started: "Fresh graduate looking for an opportunity which can help me utilize my education and knowledge in the right direction and in turn help me reach my career goals successfully".

Educational Qualification: A well formatted and properly summarized educational history, help your resume stand out from other run-of-the-mill resumes. You should always mention your education history in a chronological order. Meaning the highest and most recent degree of education comes first, followed by other degrees.

Work Experience: As a fresh graduate there are chances that you do not have anything to show in your work experience section. This is the reason why, most of the colleges emphasize on candidates taking up internships in college or after graduation. If you have volunteered or taken up any internship than mentioning your experience here would be a good idea. Plus if you have attended any workshop or done a project related to the current job profile, it would be worth mentioning here. Other than that summer training or any kind of small related experience would be good enough for this section. Recruiters do not expect you to come with years of experience and hands on expertise as they know that you are fresh college pass out, but internship or summer training surely has an edge over others.

Achievements: This is the section where you can list down all your achievements and accomplishments, starting right from your school years. Any awards, certificates etc which you might have received should be mentioned here. Your achievements will show the recruiters that you are a great team player and an enthusiastic person with a sportive spirit.
Personal Details: This section comes last, as the recruiters are more interested in seeing your qualification and experiences. But it is always a good idea to give a concise personal summary like hobbies etc. Do not get overboard and keep this section short and to the point. In case they need more personal details, it could be discussed during the face-to-face interview.

References: Listing down 2 to 3 references is good enough. Do not have a page full of references. In case you are not left with any space on the resume, meaning it is exceeding more than 2 pages than you can simply mention "Reference available on request". Remember reference should be from people not in direct relation with you like your mom, dad, uncle, aunt etc. It should be a professional reference.

Using a 30/60/90-Day Plan for Non-Sales Jobs

Can you use a 30-60-90-day plan for non-sales jobs? Of course--it works for marketing, project management, technical support, and many others. For instance, I got a call from a candidate going for a job in Marketing Communications. He had a 30-60-90-day template, but needed help translating it into a document for a non-sales job like the one he wanted. We spent a few minutes brainstorming together, and came up with some ideas and new directions that I also wanted to share with you.

To begin with, remember that there are objectives you have to achieve in every job. They aren't all achievable in the first 30-60-90-days (or even in the first 180 or 360 days), but even with a really long-term objective, there should be some kind of break down of what needs to be done when, and certainly at least some of them can be taken care of within the first 30-60-90 days. So, for example: if you are in Marketing Communications, and you're supposed to be building to a complete product launch in 9 months, there are some things that can be listed out to be done in the first 30-60-90-days in order to set yourself on the path to success and prosperity. Those are the objectives that you would use in place of sales objectives.

The same types of communications happen in many kinds of jobs - just not necessarily with customers. Instead of meeting with outside customers (as in sales), you might have more internal meetings, or you might be meeting with external vendors. For example, if you're an events coordinator, you're going to have to go on sites, request and review bids, share those with the sales staff perhaps, and have a plan for what needs to be done when.

Other possibilities for objectives to include in your 30-60-90-day plan: training, site visits, or learning company systems. There are many ways to tailor a 30-60-90-day plan to whatever job you're interviewing for. Also, learning enough about the job to put one together will be helpful to you when you ask your own questions in the interview, because you'll start off with more information than the average candidate.

The point to keep in mind is: Creating a 30-60-90-day plan shows initiative, preparation, written communication skills, and that you're interested enough in this job to have done your homework. That's always impressive to hiring managers.

Resume format

We need to be updated with the changes happening and trends coming up in the job market. It can be anything then. For example: Latest resume format for 2011. Ensure that you choose the format which suits you the best. As we all are familiar with the numerous resume formats available but while writing in the particular format, one should take care of some aspects. Especially, referring to the latest trends, here are few tips to think while choosing your resume format:

If you are fresher, don't go for functional style solely.

If we look at the job market, we can find many candidates who are freshers, who don't have a gap free career. Thus, in order to handle this kind of gap, many opt for a full-fledged functional resume format, which focuses only on your skills. So just to hide this gap somehow, many candidates write their resume skills in an abstract form. Though you might find this way absolutely fine while covering up your gap in the career, but it may add up to some other problems in the mind of the reader. Many HR professionals and recruiters are well aware about these kinds of styles, candidates follow while writing their resume. Sometimes, it is not necessary to go with the conventional format, but you can combine the formats and come up with a good resume.

Whatever format you opt, there has to be chronology in your achievements, education and experience.

Whichever resume format you choose, the latest resume format tips say that there has to be a particular chronology while writing your resume elements. It should be done so that the employers can understand your resume easily, and remember your details. List all the years of employment in a chronological format, but if you have a gap of 2 years between, say 2006 to 2007, then you can fill up by saying 'Family Sabbatical' or whichever sounds good. Enter the position and location like other listings in your resume wherever necessary.

Your online presence should be cross checked.

Most of the job companies check your profile online, and then get to you. You can check yourself by searching for your name on Google, which is much common. Your name can also show your profiles on twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Thus, it will help you to see how social you are on the internet, and how frequently you surf it.

Don't lengthen your resume.

To what extent you can stretch a piece of information. Especially, in case of resumes, you have to keep it short, and it does not exceed 2 pages, even though you are experienced. Few can be exceptional if they have to write some high technical details. For freshers, one page resume is absolutely fine as per the new policy of latest resume format for 2011. Employers don't have time to waste for one resume. They have to scan so many resumes to get one trustworthy candidate. Be brief, clear and tight, to the point etc. in terms of language and usage of words. It will help you to get short listed for sure.

Job Interview Weaknesses - How to Overcome Job Interview Anxiety

As a staffing manager I have conducted over 300 interviews and have seen a lot of nervous candidates. Their palms sweat, their speech falters, and the discomfort they feel is almost tangible in the room. If one of your job interview weaknesses includes severe anxiety, these tips may help.

Overcoming Job Interview Weaknesses With Preparation

A lot of interview anxiety is caused by fear of the unknown. People are not accustomed to sitting face to face in a small room and trying to sell themselves, and it makes them feel uncomfortable. The first think you should work on is preparation before the interview. Research the company you're meeting with and take a look at any recent news stories or press releases. Make sure you know your resume backwards and forwards, and have some good sample interview answers prepared that give more detail of your accomplishments.

Overcoming Job Interview Weaknesses With Rehearsal

I've seen candidates answer my questions almost as if they're reading from a book. Their eyes glaze over and they look away, and their answer comes out sounding canned and phony. The way to avoid this is to rehearse your practice answers out loud, ideally with a friend or in front of a video camera. This will help your delivery sound smooth and natural. Look your interviewer in the eye and answer his questions with confidence.

Overcoming Job Interview Weaknesses With a Better Attitude

Some people feel so intimidated and nervous by the upcoming interview that they subconsciously assume that the interviewer will be hostile or condescending from the beginning. You got this interview because your skills and accomplishments look like a good fit for the job! Go into the interview room with a confident smile on your face and assume that you already have the job, you just need to give the hiring manager some more details about yourself. Remember, you are a great catch! Even if you feel terrified on the inside, try to envision your interview as a great opportunity to share your skills with someone who truly needs them.
